These web pages are about my Christmas lights, which were created after a challenge from a colleague. It starts back in 2007 while I was working at Selby College. After watching a YouTube video featured on the evening news, I was challenged by my boss to build a set of computer controlled Christmas lights. I set about building a display initially just for our office, and although it was held together with a worrying amount of sellotape, they proved an instant hit with both staff and students and the yearly trend was set!

Since then, as winter isn’t a great time to be out and about installing new wireless networks, I turn my attention each year to Christmas lights. The display has grown to include more lights, hardware, software and off course a few meters of tinsel each year. I no longer work at the college, having moved to work in the Computer Science department at The University of York in 2009 where the trend continues. However I also return to college every December to bring a little festive cheer to the ICT corridor.

These pages have photos, videos and comments relating to the design, build and installation of the displays each year. I hope you enjoy having a look around.
